Dreaming of a Green Christmas: Rose of Sharon Acres Giveaway! {CLOSED}

Christmas Giveaway Tree 4I’m excited to be participating in the Dreaming of a Green Christmas Giveaway Bash this week along with several other green bloggers.  We’ll be giving you the opportunity to win green Christmas gifts for your family, friends, or yourself!  Be sure to check out the other great giveaways at the end of this post.

Today’s review and giveaway is sponsored by Rose of Sharon Acres. This family business is based out of Maud, TX and they make and sell, among other things, goat milk soap. The goat milk is from their herd of Nubian Diary Goats that they keep on their farm. How neat is that?! You can even see pictures of the goats on their website if you are interested. They’re pretty cute.

Review of Some of Their Products

rose of sharon acres soap.jpgRose of Sharon Acres graciously sent me a couple of bars of their soap to try out and I purchased some of their natural vapor rub balm.

Cinnamon Goat Milk Soap

The Cinnamon Goat Milk Soap smells really good! The cinnamon scent is quite strong, but not overpowering. It was not drying or irritating to my skin, although on the package it does mention that the bar is not recommended for people with extremely sensitive skin. I didn’t have any problems, though. The ingredients include ground cinnamon as well as cinnamon essential oil. It would make a great stocking stuffer or a nice soap to have at the sink since it smells so nice and Christmas-y. Cinnamon always reminds me of the holidays.

Avocado, Mango, and Honey Goat Milk Soap

This bar of soap is one from their line of exotic butter soaps. It has so many healthy oils and butters in it—coconut, mango, olive, shea, avocado, grapseeed, to name a few—and it even has raw honey in it. This bar is very mild and gentle and would be great for the dry winter months or if you typically have dry skin. This is an unscented bar, so if you are wanting something that smells and is scented, this would not be the bar for you, as it just smells like natural soap. :)

Natural Vapor Rub Balm

Natural_Vapor_Balm_-_Etsy_i2I mentioned in a blog post a few weeks ago that I wanted to switch from Vick’s to a more natural, non-petroleum based vapor rub this winter. When I saw that Rose of Sharon Acres makes a natural vapor rub, I decided to go ahead and buy it since the cost to buy all of the needed ingredients to make my own is a bit cost-prohibitive at this time. This stuff is great! I unfortunately had the chance to use it right after I got it and it definitely helped to ease my congestion and coughing. I also liked that it didn’t leave me all greasy like its petroleum based counterpart. The jar it comes in is fairly small, but a little goes a very long way. This is powerful stuff!

Other Items of Interest

Rose of Sharon Acres makes Tooth Chips, which is soap for teeth. Its all natural (none of the crazy chemicals found even in “natural” toothpaste) and lots of people have reported that it rosa verse.jpghelps with sensitive teeth (which I have).  Kate at Kitchen Stewardship did a review over on her blog. They also just started making an Essential Oil Restroom Spray. It’s a spray that is made with essential oils that are anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal that you can use when you have to go into a particularly germy place, such as a public restroom. I think I need some of that! Make sure to check out all of the gift sets too–great for an all natural Christmas present!

rosa texas.jpgI also wanted to mention that there is a Bible verse on each product. And its also very proudly made in Texas. (Which isn’t surprising, since most people from Texas are fairly proud of that fact. Hello, Texas friends!) :)

    I’d love to have one of the tooth soaps–we have sensitive teeth in our household, too, and whatever other kind of soap would be good for my children’s dry skin.
