This is the apron I made for Emily’s son. (I mentioned it here and you can find the tutorial here.)  It was so easy to make, that I went ahead and made one for my son too. My son doesn’t really see the need for an apron yet (he yells “No!” and tries to rip it off), so I think I’ll just put it up for a while.

Little Boy’s Tie Tutorial from iCandy Handmade– I have some of the blue polka dot fabric left over from the apron project, so I am going to try to make my son a tie this week to wear on Easter Sunday.

Identifying and Avoiding Toxins in Beauty and Personal Care Products from Simple Organic — This is great article and there is so much helpful information in it. You need to read it!

Is Sugar Toxic?  from The New York Times — I think the title pretty much sums it up. Well worth the read. Definitely has me thinking about whether or not I should do a sugar fast soon as a trial run for giving it (mostly) up.

ADHD: Its the Food, Stupid from Grist — More thought provoking stuff. (They probably could’ve left the “stupid” part out of the title and still been fine, methinks.)

How to Make Oatmeal…Wrong from Mark Bittman in the New York Times — Since I seem to be on a food kick in the links this week, here’s one more interesting article. Leave it to McDonald’s to make even oatmeal unhealthy.

I’ve seen the toxic sugar article floating around but haven’t had the chance (or maybe I should say made the time) to read it. But I’m fairly sure sugar is the quantities that we enjoy is slowly killing us.

My midwife suggested I cut out sweets and only allow myself to have it once a week (because totally depriving myself just doesn’t work). So, I have been. And only on Saturdays do I let myself have a sweet. And surprisingly after one sweet, I’m set. Which makes me think that cutting it out completely could happen (I’ve done it before, but go back to it) if I slowly do it rather than all at once (as was the last time).

Aprons….. Callum needs a LEATHER apron or a tool belt to put all his “stuff” in. No polka dots (though really cute!!) for this little man. I did see some lovely soft pink/lavender ruffled chintz aprons–just for girlie-girls like me–or Lily. Hugs to the kiddos! AC

I’m a little late in the reading this, but after a thoughtful co-worker bought me oatmeal from McDonald’s to eat (instead of sausage biscuits for everyone else) I realized just how bad for you their oatmeal is! I’ve had food allergies long enough to know I needed to check out the ingredients before eating b/c very rarely is anything from a restaurant just that one simple ingredient. Too easy and not tasty enough (or so they think!). Sure enough. Loaded with cream and sugar. My co-worker was doubtful and shocked once I told him. Fat and sugar sells – to most Americans anyways.
